NetHui 2019 has ended
Welcome to NetHui - New Zealand’s favourite Internet gathering! We are looking forward to seeing you on 3-4 October, as we have so many things to discuss!

Please note that the NetHui registration doesn’t cover Partners Day on 2 October, which is a day full of events, forums, workshops, and round tables hosted by partner organisations. You are welcome to attend these events, you just need to register for each separately, using the registration link. You do not need a NetHui ticket to attend Partners Day events.

The Internet of Things

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

What is the Internet of things? How does our increasingly connected environment impact our rights and privacy? What are some of the ways in which we can use the technologies available to us to faciliate good in society vs the bargain of letting our personal lives become data points for someone else to harvest information from. What is the threshold of individuals and society to the expectation of privacy vs convenience?

This session will be a part discussion part workshop to help people explore some of the concepts and issues involved in protecting and mitigating and understanding the impact of IoT technologies both for good and less good.
We have three facilitators for this session to seed ideas and themes for general discussion from a range of backgrounds including security, community projects and cloud and microcontroller design.
