NetHui 2019 has ended
Welcome to NetHui - New Zealand’s favourite Internet gathering! We are looking forward to seeing you on 3-4 October, as we have so many things to discuss!

Please note that the NetHui registration doesn’t cover Partners Day on 2 October, which is a day full of events, forums, workshops, and round tables hosted by partner organisations. You are welcome to attend these events, you just need to register for each separately, using the registration link. You do not need a NetHui ticket to attend Partners Day events.

Stop, collaborate, and listen: working together for safer and more inclusive web collecting

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Have you ever stopped to think about your online presence in social media, blog posts and websites? Perhaps you belong to an online group, or maybe you’re part of a social movement who wants to impact society? Have you thought about how you might preserve content you want to keep when it’s no longer online? Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums (GLAMs) are tasked with collecting the nation’s documentary heritage, but not everyone trusts an institution. Join representatives from the National Library of New Zealand for a discussion about how we can work together for safer and more inclusive web collecting.

Background reading:
Two examples of the National Library collaborating with community groups to archive social media and other online content.
An example of Te Papa Tongarewa collaborating with an Arts Collective to archive artwork and its digital components.
Documenting the Now is a community that supports the ethical collection, use, and preservation of social media content.
Some National Library blog posts about collecting and preserving our digital content.
