NetHui 2019 has ended
Welcome to NetHui - New Zealand’s favourite Internet gathering! We are looking forward to seeing you on 3-4 October, as we have so many things to discuss!

Please note that the NetHui registration doesn’t cover Partners Day on 2 October, which is a day full of events, forums, workshops, and round tables hosted by partner organisations. You are welcome to attend these events, you just need to register for each separately, using the registration link. You do not need a NetHui ticket to attend Partners Day events.

Why are we still talking about Digital Inclusion? It’s time for action

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Census 2013 reported that 420,000 hoursholds had no internet connection (down from 620,000 in 2006).  Of these, 62,000 were families with school aged children.  It is estimated that there are still up to 30,000 families with school-aged children that do not have internet at home.

Updated numbers from Census 2018 will be available on 23 September.

Seven years ago, Emma Smythe recived a standing ovation at Nethui 2012 for her story of how Digital Inclusion helped her gain skills and confidence and grab a second chance, You can watch her talk here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juRncoiGY70  Digital Inclusion has been a regular topic at every Nethui, but action is needed before we can rest satisfied.

What will it take to ensure every person in New Zealand is able to fully participate in the digital world?

Come along to contribute your ideas and help create an action plan.
